Freddie Thunders need a little help to get back on his feet....

Freddie went into surgery yesterday and is recovering well, but OMG and Bonnie need a little help with his medical expenses.

Last summer the three of them took me in when I needed it the most, and they deserve all the love and support they can get. Freddie cuddled with me many nights, and farted on me... maybe the farting wasn't the best memories.

OMG and Bonnie have worked hard for creating the rollerderby we play today, international rollerderby would not look like it does if it wasn't for them. This is a place for us all to give back a little to two (three with Freddie) amazing people that have done more for us than we can all understand.

Just a few dollars will take them a long way... they seldom ask for things and they have given the rollerderby community so much.

Going to WET 2014

Today I travel to Copenhagen to hang out with OMG and Krazy Kris for a night before the WET tournament begins. 10 European teams of great caliber face off during three days in Malmö, my old hometown. I am looking forward to see this, I am looking forward to be a part of this.

I am  part of an European Allstar team that is going to bout against Team Finland on Sunday and on Saturday, Team Sweden has practice, at 07.30 AM... I am looking forward to both occations.

I miss NYC, especially a certain person that I grown very fond of, a person that makes my heart skip and jump, but I m also happy to be back in Sweden where it all began four years ago. Sometimes it's hard to feel so torn between two different places.

That's the winelist....

Went back to Sweden via NYC, catching dinner and great company with Trish and brunch and more great company with OMG and Bonnie. My mothers planted some seeds in my head!

THEY GAVE ME UNICORN SOCKS!!

Skating in NYC again

Scrimmage at the CrashPad!

Today I got to come and guest scrimmage with Brooklyn, it was superfun! Thanks so much to Brooklyn for haing me!  I really miss skating with Gotham, so it's awesome to come and see old friends once in a while, and skate is even better!
I felt good skating, even if the jetlag almost made me bail on practice, and the off-skate after the skating was gruesome... I always eat too little while on trips and jetlagged, I just don't seem to get hungry.
Tomorrow I'm going to hang out at Five Stride, get myself new wheels and probably something more...
There is honestly a CRAZY amount of snow in New York!

Life change and so does skates!

So I am not kidding - I thought it would be horrible to break in new skates - and it wasn't I love tehm. Thanks to Bonnie and OMG at Five Stride (please add me to your cart) I have a pair of faboulous Brooklyn (the Murrillo 340)skates... I am still getting adjusted to not being on a nylon plate no more (yes I know, I am a creature of habit and should have changed ages ago) and the alumn does respond so much quicker... even if it's sort of a drag to really get the plowstopps the way I want... but I already nailed some hockey stops... and my feet are more jumpy than before... So I guess it's all for the best!

Change is good! I wanan kiss change! Often! And I have an urge, I have a small plan...

WFTDA Annual Meeting - exciting things

A few times that thought of not being involved on rollerderby has hit me - and I really conmsidered it, but then I always have to rethink it because I go on amazing journeys and rediscover the essence of why I started rollerderby from the get go.

PPL that work (non-payed) in the oragnization got a hat... so we could recognize them and say how  much we appreciate them (and also to ask them questions)
This year I had the opportunity to go to the WFTDA Annual Meeting that was held in Florida, Stockholm has just gotten our fullmembership and we were allowed to bring two reps, all leauges that are full members are welcome to join. And it was AMAZING to sit around and discuss the sport that we have built, the sport that we all love and try to draw up guidelines for what the future will entail.

Crime City Rollers representing by Muffa
WFTDA har grown out of a few leauges deciding it be good if they all played under the same ruleset; back in the day - like 10 years ago, there was no agreed upon ruleset, and teams would come together and decide  before the game what was legal and not legal. I mean, I started 6 years ago, and I can say, that was never the case for me, but I also know how the existance of WFTDA has hightened the level of gameplay, it has made us grow into organized, amazing, strong athletes, in a very revolutionary way.

It is very cool knowing that WFTDA is expanding internationally, that we have more and more European leauges joining, Australian, Asian - it's a worldwide revolution, of a sport that was founded and most people thought was a fad, traditional sportsfederations laughed at us and the newspapers thought we belonged in "nöjesidorna". The ruleset is getting translated and as a small step of that a few of us international skaters, translated the WFTDA missionstatement into our native language. I must say it almost made me cry to stand infront of hunderads of WFTDA reps and read out the missionstatement.

WFTDA is so much more than a platform for competative play, it's a forum for disscussion, for developing, for asking questions, to answer questions and to make your voice heard and your vote count!

We all walked around with little nametags, the sticker showed how many times you had attended, This was  my first year, so I had one!

WFTDA Annual meeting was amazing - we sat indoors in sunny Florida  from 9am until 5 pm and shared opinions, thoughts, dissaponiments, views and visions. We shared what has worked for us, and what is not working, and then we had free drinks (true story, the hotel had an open bar for an hour) and kept on talking poolside.

Only at WFTDACon you will end up in a cuddlepuddle with some of your favorite skaters!

My derby mommies

So there are derby wives and husbands and cats and dogs and so on and so on... Ihave two derby mommies...
OMG WTF and Bonnie Thunders... best mommies ever!! When Imoved to NYC I lived on their floor in Queens the first six weeks... it was awesome... I always got to sleep with a cat and it was about a two minute walk to the Crashpad (Gothams practice space).

They were good mommies and I miss them! Iwas looking for another old picture and I found this from the Gotham Derbytaunt ball 2010...

Getting a tattoo

Most of my tattooes are derby related, I've gotten them with friends from derby, yesterday me and OMG went and got out Subway token - a tattoo that is somewhat connected to being a Gotham Allstar.

Body...aches... in a good way

So I must admit, I am no longer used to rollerderby practice 3 days in a row.... it has been amazing fun, almost like a boot camp - but do my body feel a little mangled now... just a liiiitle... ugh...
Well,  and after the 3 hour long Gotham Allstar practice yesterday, me Lynx, Bonnie and OMG dressed in matching Five Stride t-shirts and went to the adult rollerdisco in New Jersey... Ooooh yeah... wooop wooop... I almost went skating without toestops and with jampluggs - and then I came to my senses and did not... ha ha ha ha

This morning - this girl is just EXHAUSTED!

Same, same but different...

Crashpad - the Gotham Lair

I got to scrimmage with Manhattan, Bronx and the Allstars... I am totally dead... watching TV and drinking a beer, Bonnie is falling asleep sitting on the couch and I am really EXHAUSTED but me and OMG are keeping it together - drinking a beer each...  It is just crazy fun to be back and skate, skate, skate... I even JAMMED! How about that!? Oh, so much fun, don't tell anyone, but jamming was fun!

And I was supposed to play here this weekend...

Sometime life just don't let you do all the things you hope for and want... I just can't leave Sweden right now for numerous reasons... but it makes me really sad, like REALLY sad...

I have so many great friends in Gotham and I miss them... Not that I don't love Crime City, CRime City is AMAZEBALLS, but I miss Gotham... I really do... change is painful and hard...

Leaving NYC for Berlin

There is always a new destination on my road, I am always heading somewhere new, but leaving NYC I do with a very heavy heart! I love Bunny, OMG, Bonnie, Fisti and Justin here... they are just great people... not to mention my old Manhattan Mayhem teammates and all that!

I do also miss my friends in Seattle and my friend in LA, Chicago, Denver and yeah... all those increadble girls I have gotten to know via derby! But most of all miss my girl in Copenhagen, she is quite grand!
Yesterday I hung out at Five Stride, and now I'm a proud owner of a pair of PURPLE Moxi skates, a five stride hoodie, gumball toestops and I also finally got those DARN Stingers... I cannot wait to try them out at Malmös next practice, but first I have a stop in Berlin, to attend EROC.

Day Twelve

(OMG and Bonnie are giving the derby world a deep thought in their store)

I woke up on Roxys couch and she took me for bagels, it was amazing and made me happy and then I headed to Astoria to meet up with Bunny, Fisti and their males to watch A-Team. It was great going to the movies, the heat in NYC i killing me, I don't deal very well with heat, and I feel like I should be outside, but everytime I go outside I wish I were either on the beach or somewhere dark and colder... I might be a vampire...

After the movie ended and I once again had to face the brightness of the day, I was taken to Five Stride Skateshop, that is run and owned by Bonnie Thunders and OMG... we had food on their floor and talked about derby until I fell asleep... (really, I did fall asleep on the floor, it was funny)

Work out:
....I did ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING....
Well, I did walk 20 blocks... does that count??

Derby: ANOTHER DERBY FREE DAY...

Breakfast: Whole wheat bagel with Maple, Raisin and Walnut Cream Cheese with a small freshly pressed grapefruit juice... this tasted like heaven and I finished it up with a cup of coffee
Lunch: Chicken Burrito with extra Guacomole
Snack: Prezels... Yummy pretzels... a few of those (the hard kind, not the soft and happy kind) Fisti did not know how I managed to cram those things into my belly after the lunch... I guess I have secret pockets for food... (I call them love handles)
Dinner: Mussles in butter, wine, cream and all amazing things you can find at Flex Mussels with two glasses of wine and DESSERT... I had some amazing delisousness for dessert and it made me really happy...

And after dinner I went home and slept for at least 13 hours... sleeping is sometimes amazing and sometimes you forget how much better you feel after you really got some amazing rest!
