RollerCon 2015 - short late recap

Team Fasholes vs. Team Tomboys by Tristan King

I had an AMAZING time at RollerCon, it was my SEVENTH RollerCon and it was just as magic as any other year. I played some truly fun bouts with talented and kickass people, and most of all... i got to dress up while playing rollerderby... meeting old and new friends!
I was honored to be voted in for the East Coast Team this year, it is truly humbling and amazing to get to skate with this team. And AGAINST Team West that really had some of the finest skaters on it. Oh, and we won... but it was an amazing and hardfought bout...

Team Cruz always leaves me feeling like a BEZErKING VIKING, I am not complaining... I couldn't stop grunting for a really long time after...   Team Fashole just get better and better each year... both outfitwise and skating, this year we event made points...  we alsmost gave those tomboys a run for their money... with our tits out... yeah we did!!
Team Vagine is the highlight of the weekend, being able to be a part of a team with such talented and queer skaters makes me super happy. Skating for a cause, because we are who we are, and we are not afraid to be who we are. Oh, yeah, we also won this year again...

And as always, skating with Cheezeballs Precision Skate Bearings is always a great time and so are the bearings spinning in my wheels... even if we didn't win, we still kicked some ass and had a GOOD time both against Bont and S1!!
I also had a good time seeing that Roll Line Roller Derby had a booth there this year, and my Gladiator wheels totally tore up the floor..

RollerCon 2014

RollerCon is always fun, but you never really know what to expect more than it is going to be fun and that you get to play with and against of awesome and exciting people.

Last year sort of sucked, because I was injured and wanted to skate so bad that I did skate but performed really poorly and was in pain the entire time. I guess on the plusside last year was that I met Eagle, it was worth all the pain ;-)

Well, this year Vagine Regime was a great bout to play, the people on the roster makes me so excited it makes me almost wet myself, but I don't because it would totlly show on the grey pants...

Fasholes vs. Tomboys is always the most hillerious, and this year I think I got "best outfit", another bout that was hillerious and I hope I get invited to skate in next year again was Prancersice vs. Twerk... I am a natural born Prancersicer... not sure if that is something to be proud of... but I AM!! Also playing with team Cruz is always delightful, I get to let my inner Viking out and just growl at everyone... yeah, that's what I consider a sucessful bout.

I guess what's fun with most of the challange bouts at rollercon is that they don't matter, some do, like the VR-bout, but many you just step on the track and do your best and mistakes can just be laughed away... I jam... and I jam... but mostly block and I try new things!

Hanging out in the pool, or by the pool during night was also great, this year I spent a lot of time with Rose City skaters, I guess I've visited Portland quite a bit the past year, and also this year they had quite a representation.

We went to the Vegas Haufbrau Haus, it's the third year we did that, and it was amazing and awefully fun and this year I had two steins of wheat beer and got way to intoxicated. It's an off-campus activity that I really appreciate being a part of. I love RollerCon, but after a few days at the Riviera it's nice to just leave and do something different with your friends.

If you wanna get  better view of what happened at RollerCon 2014, get the next issue of Five on Five, since I wrote a RollerCon 2014 re-cap for them.

Sorry this post is late, but I've been very focused on other things... like making GOTHAM ALLSTARS... :-D

Things never really go as you plan them...

I will try not to wake them up with a bucket of Bloody Marys... I am focused on derby... and derby only... and my friends... and maybe just one or tow bloody marys... on the Sunday! mkey...

2008 - RollerCon it was

I went to RollerCon 2008, 2009 and 2010 - and all of those years I had a blast for different reasons... This photo is from my first year at RollerCon - I had been skating for about 9 months and I was starstruck and the classes were in a garage... we had black vs. white scrimmages during the night at Flamingo Banks and it was HOT HOT HOT and I remember the floor to be slick, slick, slick... oh, and all those Rat City girls totally sweet talked me... I was in heaven...

Weekend in Crime City

Bonnie Bompa, Pia and Finnish girls
Bonnie Bompa, Evil Eye, MadFist, Kneebender and Juicy
Me and Loony had one of those rare weekends that we acctually were in Malmö, the entire weekend... but no rest for the wicked...soo...
This weekend we as in Crime City held a little bootcamp, we had girls from Gothenburg Roller Derby, Aarhus Derby Danes, Kallio Rolling Rainbows, Copenhagen Rollerderby, Stockholm Rollerderby and probably somewhere else attending. And it was the best time ever... it was FUN and we all had a blast. It started up with advanced on Friday, while Saturday was our basic day and ending with Sunday being advanced drills ending in Scrimmage - White vs. Black.
It was good for us, since we had a chance to let the girls, that are skating against London Rockin Rollers on the 23rd of July, skate together. We are running a little of a newer roster since some of our skaters are going to RollerCon in Vegas.

Well, the weekend was a success and everyone seemed like that had a great time, and once again I must say, like I have done so many times before, that it is so amazing to see how European Rollerderby is coming along and how everyone are pushing themselves, each other and developing.

I got to enjoy hanging out in parks, jumping into the ocean all derby sweaty, drinking peoples beers, talking rollerderby and not-rollerderby with a whole bunch of amazing people... and in the end we cut Maloonys hair... but that was not even during the weekend anymore... and Bonnie Bompa supplied her and the two crazy Finns with two bottles of vodka...

Team Amazon 2009

Krissy Krash really is an awesome friend, and we just have lots of fun together. She is hardworking and just a little hetroflexible, but I think that is just fun! We are great partners in crime, even if she litterally lives on the other side of the globe from me... but we are both proud skaters of Team Amazon...

That's all I wanted to say right now... I love Team Amazon, you have to be over 5'10 to skate for Team Amazon. And it's a yearly battle between the Amazones and the Anklebiters (who like to call themselves Shortbus) at both RollerCon and at ECE....

Another amazing skater on Team Amazon is Miss Evil, she is one of the coolest people I know. A tall drink of water and also a Team Legit skater, just coming back from a brooken foot. I go to spend a large chunk of this weekend with her too... yep...

Tomorrow RollerCon

(Me and Krissy Krash last year at the Dance Off Pant's Off party... we toned up since...)

Starting the day off with a Herbalife Shake... well, now I lied, I had coffee and now I am having a herbalife shake... Yummy... Yummmy... orange juice and the Vanilla formula really taste like a popcicle!

I'm not going to Vegas until tomorrow because today is travel-team practice, it is amazing how fast I have adapted to a new team, new strategies and also gained new confidence in my skating. I really love skating with Gotham Girls Allstars, it is very hard work, but also very rewarding... I sometimes feel like falling down crying, but at the same time, I will not become a better skater by falling down crying, so most of the time I don't... I am a sturdy lady, and I keep on trucking...

I don't want to loose weight, maybe two pounds, but for most of it, I am very happy at my weight, I am a mover and a shaker, whilst being very hard to move... 170 pounds just don't go flying easily, I would be a fool trying to loose more than maximum 10 pounds, at least if I wanna continue to be a great derby player at this level...

Tomorrow is RollerCon, I am gonna play a scrimmage or two and then spend time at the pool in my bikini... I never really liked wearing a bikini... I don't know why... but I still like to get a tan... maybe I just should try to go find a nude pool in Vegas... Ahhh... Vegas baby... VEEEGAS!
